Clinical Pastoral Education opportunities are available with the Chattanooga Association for Clinical Pastoral Care in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Erlanger Health System consists of The Baroness Hospital (Main Campus), T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Erlanger North, Erlanger East, and Erlanger Bledsoe. . Erlanger is a non-profit academic teaching center and Level I Trauma Center. The University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine serves Erlanger with nine medical residency programs and one fellowship program. Erlanger serves 50 counties within a 150 mile radius of East Tennessee, North Georgia and Northeastern Alabama
Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation is a licensed 80 bed physical rehabilitation hospital which provides physical rehabilitation services for adults and children with orthopedic and neurological impairments.Hospice of Chattanooga began in 1981 and is the community’s oldest and largest nonprofit hospice, offering end of life care in southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia. Their mission states: “Hospice of Chattanooga is the only community owned, not for profit hospice providing comfort and dignity to patients and families from an accredited team of end-of-life specialist.”

Benefits:
Extended and summer positions are not funded with a stipend. Meals and parking are provided for students while on duty. Year residents receive a stipend.

Ten
to Twelve students are admitted for a single unit of Clinical Pastoral Education
(CPE). Five students are admitted for the residency year.
After the application is received, an interview will be scheduled and conducted by one or more of the CPE Supervisors.
There is no application fee but the cost of the unit is $500 payable in the first week. Residency is $200.00 per unit. Payable in the first week of each unit.
It is important that all requested written materials be submitted with the application.
CACPC offers three units throughout the year and four units for the residency year. Two extended units; one beginning in January and ending in May, the other beginning in August and ending in December. The full-time summer unit begins in June and ends in August. During the extended units, group seminars are conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. (these are required seminars). During the full-time summer unit, seminars are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The residency year usually begins the last Monday in August and continues for one year. The dates for the four consecutive units vary from year to year. Residents continue serving as chaplains during the seminar break weeks during the year.
The orientation process is held the first week of the unit. During this time, hospital visitation areas, on-call hours, weekend on-call, and supervisory hours are decided upon (and are negotiable between student and supervisor).
